Corrosion Products & Equipment, Inc. (CPE) was founded in 1988 in Rochester, New York as a distributor of sealing devices and specialty process piping products along with engineered valves. Since that time we have expanded our business operations throughout the Northeast as well as to several locations in the Caribbean Islands. Critical to the success and growth of CPE over the years has been the creation and development of our service and construction related lines of business.
Our first venture into the service business began in 1993 with the creation of our rotating equipment repair center in Rochester, New York. Since that time we have repaired over 5,000 pieces of rotating equipment, including diverse technologies as boiler feed pumps, rotary lock valves, gearboxes, and clinker grinders. In 2009 we expanded by opening another repair facility in Albany, New York. With the addition of our mobile repair services, we offer state of the art laser alignment and vibration analysis equipment to insure successful installation and reliable operation of plant rotating equipment. This investment in both people and equipment allows CPE to provide our customers turnkey repairs including removal and installation of any piece of equipment from ANSI dimension pumps to large vertical turbine pumps.
Shortly after the creation of our pump repair division, CPE began to provide field installation and repair of our specialty piping products. Our primary initial focus was in the area of installation and repair of FRP piping, tanks, and scrubbers. We quickly migrated into the design and fabrication of FRP catwalks and platforms and became the national fabricator for one of North America’s largest grating manufacturers. Over the past ten years we have expanded into the fabrication and installation of all types of thermoplastics. CPE specialty pipe spools, along with our line of custom-built tanks, can be found in the OEM skids of some of the world’s largest manufacturers of water filtration systems.
As our experience with rotating equipment and piping systems grew – along with our customers’ need for “complete” solutions to their environmental and process needs – CPE entered into the process pump skid manufacturing business. By incorporating our vast knowledge of pumping equipment with our tank manufacturing and pipe fabrication capabilities, we have designed and built for our customers innovative skid systems to meet almost any of their unique plant requirements. All of our systems include custom-designed control panels built in our Rochester Facility. Included in our offering is pH neutralization, chemical feed, water booster, methane recovery, RODI along with several application-specific skid packages.
CPE created our own in-house Coatings and Linings team. This has allowed us to both insure the final aesthetics of our projects as well as provide a complete environmental and containment compliance for all of our installations. CPE’s mobile coatings crew can safely and efficiently complete any small or large secondary containment, tank relining or industrial painting projects. Our chemical and highly abrasion-resistant ceramic based epoxies can protect or restore any process equipment and piping.
In order to tie-in our specialty services with capital upgrades, CPE created our field construction group. This team of project managers, pipe fitters, riggers, and civil constructors enables CPE to either self-perform or project manage any discipline associated with, or related to, the installation of piping, pumping, structural or containment system.
CPE has evolved from a family business started by a father and his sons, to a multi-faceted contractor, fabricator and supplier with a strong vision on safety and quality of work. And we’re not finished yet. We’re still evolving our processes, growing our business and finding innovative ways to improve upon what we do best: fluids, big time.
